Dr. Rosana Salvaterra has served as the Medical Officer of Health for Peterborough Public Health since 2008, previously she worked in both Toronto and Stratford in similar positions.

Dr. Salvaterra currently holds an academic appointment with Queen's University, and has worked both internationally, and in First Nations communities in Canada.  Dr Salvaterra has also been a health columnist for the Toronto Star, and co-hosted a daily TV health show.

In November 2013, the Ontario College of Family Physicians (OCFP) bestowed an Award of Excellence to Dr. Salvaterra in recognition of her outstanding service as a member of the OCFP Board of Directors and her contributions to several OCFP Committees

She currently participates in a number of local and provincial committees including:

• Vice-Chair, Illicit Synthetic Opioid Provincial Response Advisory Committee

• Member, CAMH Opioid Internal Network Advisory Group

• Chair, Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Access Working Group

• Chair, Peterborough Food Action Network

• Member, Peterborough Poverty Reduction Network Planning Committee
